Sundown: Nostalgia and Memory

[dropcap]S[/dropcap]undown explores the themes of nostalgia, love, memory and longing. It’s not autobiographical. But every time I sing it, the lyrics remind me of my own story. As if the song was written about history before it happen. Strange indeed.

Written by Tiffany Thompson and Chris Franz

you came to mind

that Tennessee sunset

gets me every time

we’d sit under the cherry tree

and you would tell all of

your dreams to me

now, only a memory remains

our love was a drifter

on a passenger train

And I know way leads to way

out of this town

but i’ll wait for sundown

Hope your dreams came true

Did you make it to the city

Did you find what you promised to

that night we sat under the moon,

with the owl and the fireflies

those times, they remind me

only a memory remains

our love was a drifter

on a passenger train

And I know way leads to way

out of this town

now i’m here waiting

Said you would meet

ten til six, Union Station

On the first day of fall

The travelers hasten

The last train is leaving

And I wish the sun on it’s way
