The Birchmere: A Five-Year Wait

The first time I entered The Birchmere was to see a band dear to my heart—Over the Rhine. I loved the table/chair set-up, clear sound system, listening audience and story-telling environment. Over the Rhine captivated the room, as usual, and planted a seed in my heart that I would love to perform on that stage someday.  That wasJune 9, 2006.

Tonight, almost 5 years later, I am honored to be sharing my music at The Birchmere. And to sweeten the experience even more, I am opening for the legendary band, America. Their songs “A Horse with No Name,” “Lonely People” and “Ventura Highway” were the soundtrack to many lives throughout the 70s, and they are currently on their 40th Anniversary Tour.

I’ll be accompanied by Eric Montgomery, a wonderfully talented Virginia based multi-instrumentalist, and we’ve created a set list that includes songs from my 2009 EP (“Ask Me Again”) as well as a new song I wrote under a month ago with my friend and producer, Phil Danyew, in Los Angles. To close out the set we are covering Love Will Keep Us Alive by The Eagles, which I totally connect with lyrically and melodically.
