Hi! My name is Tiffany Thompson. I’m an award-winning songwriter with 25 years of experience writing, recording, and releasing music. At 12 years old, I realized I could combine the ideas in my diary with melodies and music to create songs of my own. The joy of writing and the high of performance have been present in my life ever since then. With 100s of songs written and 50 commercially released tracks, I’m just getting started.

I released my first album at 17 years old, my second at 21, and my third at 24. This third EP is the earliest collection of songs still available online and established the beginning of my pop approach to being a singer/songwriter. I loved working with the producer to figure out the relationship of background vocals to the melody and how hooks bolstered the story I was trying to tell.

My first-day job was actually as an analyst at the Central Intelligence Agency. I would work at Langley on geopolitical issues during the day and play at pubs and coffee houses in the evening. I slowly began to see that the intelligence I was most passionate about was soulful intelligence. The type of intelligence that music gives us language for. A universal language.

From 2013 – 2017, I lived in Nashville, TN, to focus on my career as a songwriter. I entered into the world of co-writes and had opportunities to write with Adrianne E. Gonzalez, Michael Logan, Josiah Rosen, Jesiah Dzwonek, Jenn Bostic, Phil Danyew, and more. For a season, I rebranded myself as a pop artist under the moniker of my middle name, DANAE—those songs were rereleased as a Tiffany Thompson EP named DANAE. Though not the right direction for me as an artist, I fell in love with the big notes, singable melodies, and relentless hooks of pop music. Since 2017, I’ve lived and worked in New York and North Carolina.

My inspirational song “We are the Dreamers” became a cult classic in the show “Dance Moms,” earning almost 500,000 streams on Spotify and millions of YouTube views. My song “Direction” was a semi-finalist in the Song of the Year contest, and this past year I won first place in the Be Still Media competition for my collaboration with spoken-word poet Spencer Aubrey. I’ve opened for the classic rock band America as well as sung for the Secretary of State.

Writer and professor George Saunders wrote, “We’ll find our voice and ethos and distinguish ourselves from all the other [artist] in the world without needing to make any big overarching decisions, just by the thousands of small ones we make as we revise.” I am still on the journey of finding my voice and feel it is my calling to help other’s feel less alone in their search for theirs.
